Wolverine #9 Review

Tagged with: WolverineWolverine #9

Wolverine’s quest for revenge starts here. Today I will be reviewing Wolverine #9. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think.

So let’s talk about the book. Wolverine wants the Red Right Hand dead for sending him to hell. His first step in finding them is finding and killing Mystique, the woman who helped them send Wolverine to hell. Too bad the Red Right Hand has hired Lord Deathstrike to kill her first. Mystique knows Wolverine wants to kill her and is ready for him but not for Lord Deathstrike. The battle rages on the city streets as the three combatants go at each other in full force. After the smoke has cleared, Wolverine finds out the Red Right Hand’s location from Mystique before he guts her, but not before she reveals all of their plans to him. It seems that they want Wolverine to find them. Also, Mystique may be dead, but her body is sold to the Hand. And that’s the book.

So let’s talk opinions. The Marvel gods did not hear my cry. Daniel Acuna is still the artist on this book. While I still loathe his art, I do have to admit that this issue it wasn’t too disgusting. Lord Deathstrike looked pretty awesome and the fight scene wasn’t completely repulsive. Everything else, however, was the same. Nothing too exciting or distinctive but thankfully we had no overlapping images completely ruining the panels. To top it off, the story was very good. Wolverine, alone, on a mission of vengeance. Hunting his prey and killing it with a merciless rage and vengeance. I love that the plot is finally moving itself along from the deadlock standstill it’s been in for the last eight issues. Maybe we can finally get some info on the Red Right Hand and who the hell they are. That would be pretty cool. It’s only been nine months. To top it all off, Lord Deathstrike is pretty awesome. I love his powers and abilities. I wonder if it’s someone from Wolverine’s past behind the mask. (Probably, since he’s in a Wolverine comic.) The whole running down the wall, phasing into the ground, super bullets thing was incredible to see. I hope we see more of this character in the future. I’m also pretty sure that Mystique will be back as a member of the hand pretty soon. Here’s hoping next issue keeps this momentum of goodness going. This issue was probably the best one in this series so far. That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.
