Another Wolverine book joins an already overflooded market. Today I will be reviewing Wolverine The Best There Is #1 . Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

So let’s talk about the book. Wolvie is being electrocuted and power dampened by some idiots who force him to fight in an arena. After he escapes and kills everyone, he is picked up by a hitchhiker. She takes him to a club where a man/mutant/bad guy with powers touches him and infects him with some sort of hallucinogen causing him to go berserk and start killing everyone, including himself. This same guy, earlier in the book, rescues a self healing man who had been trapped in quicksand for over 60 years for reasons yet unrevealed. And that’s the book.

So let’s talk opinions. From first glance this book is a dud. The art is immediately so goofy looking that it makes you want to put the book down. The story is just plain pointless and has no humor or mystery in it at all. (Wolverine in a tuxedo T-Shirt, giving claw haircuts, and dancing like a goofball. WTF?) And what’s with all of the xxxxxx all over the book. If this book is supposed to have curses in it, make it a Max book and go to town. If it’s a regular “gritty” Wolverine book, then don’t use curses. But if you’re cursing every page, and putting in xxxxxx to make us guess the curses, that’s just plain stupid. I’m old enough to read a curse and if a child is picking the book up, the Parental Warning on the cover should be enough to stop them from getting it. So far, the main villain is dull, the writing is bland, and Wolverine is coming off as a chump. At least there is no lack of blood in the issue so violence will be present in future issues. In any case, this book is a failure on all points.  That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.
