Comic Book Jobs: ILM, Lucasfilm And USC

Posted by Tom MasonCategories:Editorials,Movies,Television

Star Wars The Clone WarsThere are a bunch of interesting, and decidedly off-the-beaten-path jobs out there and some of them have only a tenuous connection to comics, but I like them nonetheless. Let’s take a look:

Industrial Light and Magic is looking to fill several positions, and while they’re not technically comic book jobs, they are for artists in the following areas: Animation (Character), Animation (Cloth), Animation (Facial), Animation (FX), Animation (Hair/Fur/Skin), Animation (Traditional), Compositing / Lighting / Image Processing, Lighting, Matchmoving and Rotoscoping. I think they’re too spiffy not to pass along.

USC is looking for an animation director or artist for the role of University Professor for their John C Hench Division of Animation and Digital Arts. USC, by the way, is the University of Southern California, where it's nice and warm and sunny.

Lucasfilm needs a Senior Character Artist for their Singapore studio. Primarily, you’ll “create and apply textures to characters, sets, vehicles and props, according to the designs, visual style and surface qualities of the animated 3D CG TV Series,” which is Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Cartoon Brew, the terrific animation site by Jerry Beck and Amid Amidi, is looking to hire a News Editor. But hurry, the offer is only open until November 26th.

The Asylum Network at AOL, “the largest men’s lifestyle site on the Web,” is looking for an Editorial Intern for their New York office.

In Los Angeles, an "experimental short film" seeks a comic book artist.

An “established L.A. based comic book publisher” is looking for an assertive, dedicated power player who will be “an asset to a quickly growing company.” You’ll be assisting the CEO and he wants you to have “knowledge of major hitters in the entertainment industry and an interest in comic books, films, TV, & games." I only know of one publisher in the mid-Wilshire district, and you can figure out who it is without too much trouble.

In Chicago, “Ryan” is looking for "non-typical and typical comic book lovers" for a documentary he’s producing.

Good luck, job seekers!
