Uncanny X-Men #530 Review

Tagged with: Greg Land  Matt Fraction  Uncanny X-MenUncanny X-Men #530

A new villain (sort of), a new threat, and more headaches for those ragtag bunch of misfits who never seem to catch a break. Today I will be reviewing Uncanny X-Men #530 . Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

So let’s talk about the book. Emma, Kitty and Fantomex are deciding what to do with Shaw when a flu outbreak occurs on Utopia. Wolverine is infected as well. Cyclops commands an immediate quarantine of the island leaving only a few mutants off the island as the new X-Men. Meanwhile, at the Sublime corporation, five volunteers are turned into mutants using a drug and they gain the powers of the original X-Men. Also, the Collective Man is killing all of the allies of “the Black Dragon” AKA Wolverine. And that’s the book.

So let’s talk opinions. Wow what an amazing issue. So many new plotlines are starting this issue that its making my head spin. Shaw, the Virus, the new X-Men, and the chemically made X-Men. I hope all of these stories occuring at the same time does not dilute the the details of each plot. For now, Matt Fraction seems to be doing a great job tying everything together and keeping it intense. And Greg Land’s art is amazing. Emma has never looked better. Though why Dazzler has a sun on her ass is beyond me. At least the cover is an attention grabber from the first glance. The new X-Men, who will probably have to deal with the chemical X-Men, are not really that powerful (even with Storm on the team) but they do have LOTS of experience going for them. It should be a great battle over the next few issues. I also don’t buy that there is a virus that can actually affect Wolverine. Also, I think that the Shaw story is starting to drag. Get to the point already. Either kill him or release him but do something with him already. As for the Collective Man, so far I’m not into it. I think that that story should have been done in a Wolverine title, not an X title. So much to look forward to over the next few issues. Let’s hope it’s not a flop. That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.
