Traveler #1 Review

Tagged with: Boom Studios  Stan Lee  TravelerTraveler #1

Stan Lee’s second entry in his return to comic book greatness. Is all of the hype worth it? Today I will be reviewing Traveler #1. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think.

So let’s talk about the book. A character named Angstrom, who can control the electromagnetic spectrum, attacks the town of Richmond, Virginia. Good thing the Traveler (named Kronus) is there to stop him. Traveler has the power to stop time. He somehow also has knowledge about future events. Angstrom is a split-second man, a time traveler from the future. His purpose is not revealed but somehow Traveler manages to defeat him. Later, another split-second man named Splinter, who can decay matter, attacks and Traveler is there to stop him. However, before he can leave the scene a cop named Julia Martin tries to arrest Traveler. While Traveler is talking her down by telling her about her long and fruitful future, Splinter attacks her and tears a hole though her body. And that’s the book.

So let’s talk opinions. Now this is a great book. It has everything a great comic book should have. An awesome character with strange and wonderful powers. A secret that is yet to be revealed about who the character really is. Awesome, powerful villains with no regard for life, whose true purpose is also yet to be revealed. A subplot that raises questions. Great super hero fights. And amazing art to top it all off. This book makes me want to read more, unlike Soldier Zero, which I just flip through hoping that the next page will be the last. I’m loving all of the mystery, by the way. I like a book that keeps you wondering for a little while. (Though hopefully not too long because then it just gets annoying. The one little complaint I have so far is that Traveler’s suit sort of looks like the outfit that the guy in Absolution wears. (If you never read that book, go out and read it. It’s a pretty good anti-hero story.) Other than that, this book completely rocks. That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.
