Deadpool Team-Up #887 Review

Tagged with: Deadpool  Deadpool Team-UpDeadpool Team-Up #887

The book that has it all is back. Today I will be reviewing Deadpool Team-Up #887. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think.

So let’s talk about the book. While scavenging through the remains of Asgard, Deadpool inadvertently assists a geeky nerd in setting free a magical creature from a prison that she was put in by Odin. Thor arrives to handle the looting but instead teams up with Deadpool to put the righteous smackdown on the creature. Much hilarity occurs as well. And that’s the book.

So let’s talk opinions. While the art was not that good, the story more than made up for it. Reminding me of the great three issue run I read a few months ago, this book had a little bit of everything. Great humor. Great action and a good villain. Thor is the best straight man to Deadpool’s comedic sarcasm and verbal diarrhea.  I loved Tan. He fits in perfectly into the world of Deadpool. I really hope this is not the last we see of him. The Raiders references were funny. Deadpool’s antics were funny. And the way they beat the enemy was predictable, but still funny. I love a book that makes me laugh, and this one did that multiple times. With all of the serious and multi-arc multi-part sagas being written, it’s nice to find a book that has a complete self contained story with a beginning, middle and end all in one issue. Marvel needs to get back to making more of these instead of dragging a story for five or six issues because making a new original idea per month is too much work. I want my money’s worth and this book delivers that every issue. (Almost.) That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.

I’ve been looking forward to this one, but I’m looking forward to the next one even more.

Thanks for the comment. I can’t wait for next issue either. The fight scenes should be awesome. And Danny Rand is just as sarcastic as Wade so their banter should be hilarious as well.

He may be as sarcastic, but he’s definitely more sane. More interesting to me is the nearly inevitable kung-fu smackdown between the two. Rand is definitely more skilled in unarmed combat and has more in the way of powers, but Deadpool has an edge if he brings weapons(pun intended) into the equation and some physical advantages. I doubt it’ll get serious between them, but it should still be good.

It should be a good fight at least.
