Green Arrow #6 Review

Tagged with: Brightest Day  Diogenes Neves  Green Arrow Blog  JT KrulGreen Arrow #6Finally! No Blackest Night/Brightest Day BS anywhere in sight! And what do we have? Only the best damn issue JT Krul has delivered to us since he got his hands on the character… and that’s saying a lot!

Starting out with what will undoubtedly be the first in character developing narratives from the newcomer, Galahad, and quickly leading into the confrontation between Green Arrow and the Queen, this issue starts out in full swing, and just keeps getting better. Taking on Queen Industries private army, then making his way to the Queen’s office, where he must face both Nix (the assassin) and the Queen, herself, this issue manages to push the story forward while delivering solid action sequences. And with the final spout between the Queen and our hero bringing us important development for both involved, JT Krul has successfully set up where the series is headed emotionally, and it looks to be a solid track.

Honestly, this issue is nearly perfect from beginning to end, the writing, the pencils, the colors, everything! Diogenes Neves has stepped up his work from the last couple of issues, and returned to his solid strengths, which serve to support JT Krul’s story in a very powerful way, while the inks and colors provided by Vicente Cifuentes lend to them nicely, creating a brilliant construct of true comic greatness. This is truly what comic book fans should be looking for. Amazing art accompanying brilliant writing. What more could we possibly ask for?

And to top it all off, we have another truly epic cover by Mauro Cascioli that not only captures the entirety of the issue, but displays itself as a brilliant piece that any Green Arrow fan would more than love to hang on their walls with pride. Seriously, if a Green Arrow movie ever gets made, they could only hope their movie poster would look half as cool as this cover.

Bottom line, this issue was amazing, and while it is in no way a stand alone issue, it is a pinnacle of this series thus far, and will likely remain so for quite some time. After this, I am edge of my seat eager for the next issue, where JT Krul will undoubtedly wow us all again… that is if he’s allowed to do his own thing.

Regardless, with this issue its official that Green Arrow is a must buy title.
