Daken: Dark Wolverine #9 Review

Tagged with: daken  Dark Wolverine  X-23Daken: Dark Wolverine #9

The crossover with X-23 ends here. Today I will be reviewing Daken: Dark Wolverine #9. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think.

So let’s talk about the book. X-23 and Daken decimate the mutated experiments that come out to attack them from deep inside the dungeons of the warehouse they are stuck in. They then find Malcolm Colcord and blow up the facility from the inside. Of course they survive the blast. It’s too bad that Colcord does as well as he has injected himself with the mutant healing factor he has been experimenting on. Daken was aware of it and had him captured and locked away. Afterwards, Laura and Gambit leave Madripoor. And that’s the book.

So let’s talk opinions. Another stunningly drawn issue. Freaking amazing, once again. The shadows really add depth to the panels. That explosion splash was incredible. The Wolverine regular series would be stunning if they had this guy as their regular artist. The story was kind of weak in the sense of plot but a strong ending to a pretty awesome crossover. The fight scenes with the mutants were vicious and violent. The inevitable ending was predictable but extremely well played out by Daken. He was always three steps ahead of Colcord the entire time. It was also nice that both Daken and Laura learned that they are more alike than different from each other. They’re both have many of Wolverine’s qualities but choose to use them in different ways. Laura chooses to earn her fate while Daken makes and takes his own into his hands. I’m really loving these two series right now and am glad that at least for now, the future of the Wolverine franchise is in good hands. (As for the Wolverine books themselves, those are crap and need some serious reworking.) That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.

What ever happened to the astonishing X-Men series?

It astonishingly sucks. I’ve been reading it but it has been so nonsensical that I really refuse to review it. It was on a 6 month hiatus, then it came back with a pathetically bad story. Sorry.
