Generation Hope #7 Review

Tagged with: Generation HopeGeneration Hope #7

The quest to save the new light from itself continues. Today I will be reviewing Generation Hope #7 . Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

So let’s talk about the book. With a super mind controlling baby taking over anyone who tries to touch it, the team has no other choice but to get a little bit personal. Using Kenji as a link, each member of the team goes into the babies’ mind and tries to convince it to stop this madness and allow itself to be born. Everyone fails miserably to connect with the child until its Teon’s turn. Luckily, Teon is pretty much a child himself and his simplicity in explanations easy the child’s fears and gives it a reason to be born. With the baby aiding in it’s own birth, everything goes off without a hitch. The population is returned back to normal and the child’s powers disappear until it hits puberty. The team begins their return back to Utopia when another crisis arises. Teon’s parent’s want to legally regain custody of him. And that’s the book.

So let’s talk opinions. This was an interesting book. Nothing too over the top but a nice feel good ending. I like the way we got to see some more of how each of the kids think. How their approach to life reflected in the way they connected to the baby. It made perfect sense that Teon would succeed. The birth scene was rather moronic, however. It just made me shake my head in the ridiculousness of it all. I’m also not happy with the general lack of action in this title so far. Both Generation X and the New Mutants had regular villains and enemies appear every issue. This let to nice action sequences where we got to see the kid’s powers in full force. So far we really haven’t seen the kids do much other than talk and run. I did like Laurie’s transformation into that creature. That was cool. The art in general was pretty nice. Clean, splashy and pretty with big clear expressions. I really hope that the stories start getting more action packed soon or this book will really go down the tubes. I can’t like a character until I see that character fight. Maybe that’s just me. Overall, the book was all right. That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.
