Daredevil Vs. Karate Kid: Fantasy Battle Tournament

Tagged with: Daredevil  Fan Fiction  Fantasy Battle Tournament  Karate Kid  Legion of Super HeroesDaredevil Vs Karate Kid

Stepping into the ring today is the master martial artist from the 31st century versus the man without fear . The fans have been polled. Their votes have been recorded. Let the battle begin:

Darkness. Strange and unnatural as it assaults his highly trained senses. He’s trained to fight in darkness so this minor discomfort shouldn’t hinder his abilities. Still, there is something weird about this darkness. It seems false. He can focus on that conundrum later. Right now, the only question is how he got into this situation. His last memory was sitting at the monitoring station at Legion headquarters. Looking at those multiple monitors until his vision started to blur. Monitor duty may be beyond boring, but it is a necessary evil.

As Val is getting his thoughts together, a voice speaks in his head. “Defeat your enemy and you live. Lose, and you die. Refuse to fight and I’ll kill you both.”

“Show me my enemy and I will defeat him or her with ease.” yells Val Armorr, the Karate Kid.

His only response is a laugh and a sudden burst of light. The flash leaves him slightly disoriented but his vision slowly clears. Looking around, Val inspects his surroundings. It’s nighttime. He seems to be in the middle of what appears to be Gotham City. At least it seems like the Gotham City Val remembers from his history tapes. Trash is littered everywhere. Cars are scattered all over the streets. A strange foul odor is in the air. Stranger still is the complete lack of people anywhere. No one at all is to be seen. Not only that, but he can hear no sounds either. It’s as if everyone and everything living has disappeared.

“Let’s see if anyone at headquarters can help me here” thinks Val, tapping his Legion flight ring. All he hears is static. “Someone must be jamming the signal.” he thinks.

With no other options, Val takes flight and begins to search for his mysterious enemy. He flies around for several minutes when all of a sudden, something smashes into his head, causing him to fall from the sky. Luckily he was flying low so when he hits the nearby roof, he is able to roll into the impact without causing himself too much pain. Sadly, the same cannot be said for his ring, which is damaged by the fall.

Rising slowly, Val tries to take flight but nothing happens. Honing his senses, Val tries to find his mysterious assailant. After standing still and watching for a few minutes, Val finally notices a slight movement two roofs away. Walking very cautiously, Val heads towards the movement.

“I know you’re there.” he yells as he reaches the roof that he saw the movement on. “Now come out and fight me face to face, instead of hiding in shadows like a coward.”

His response is the back of a billy club flying towards his head. With lightning like reflexes, Val deflects the weapon and catches the cable attached to it. He begins pulling on the cable. Too bad the man on the other side has a button that retracts it instantly. Caught off guard, Val is yanked to the ground and his opponent makes his move.

“You’re not bad.” says Daredevil, leaping into Val and catching him with a dropkick. “You sort of remind me of two friends of mine.” A first punch is deflected by Val but a second manages to catch him in the ribs. “You move a little like Shang-Chi, but slower.” A kick manages to land in Val’s stomach. “And you stand like Danny, but with less conviction.” Another punch catches Val in the chest at the same time as Daredevil’s billy club crashes into Val’s head.

“But overall, you are a pale imitation to the real men.” says Daredevil, giving Val a final kick across the temple and knocking him out. Standing over his fallen enemy, Daredevil extends his heightened senses to see if he can find the man behind the voice in his head. When he can’t find anyone, Daredevil resorts to threats.

“Now it’s your turn.” growls Daredevil. “I might not be able to sense you now, but soon you and I will have a reckoning.”

The only answer he receives is a laugh and darkness.
