Warlord of Mars #6 Review

Tagged with: Dynamite Comics  Warlord of MarsWarlord of Mars #6

John Carter and Dejah Thoris flee for their lives. Today I will be reviewing The Warlord of Mars #6. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think.

So let’s talk about the book. Sola tells John Carter the story of her birth. How she never knew her father. How she was born in secret because the truth of her parent’s love would have resulted in both of their deaths. How it was Sarkoja who found out and turned her mother in, sentencing her to death. How her mother’s last words to her was the name of her father. Tars Tarkas. The next day, everyone arrives at the city of Thark. There they plan a secret escape, but Sarkoja tells on them and they are forced to speed up their plans. John is forced to confront the Tal Hajus and free Dajah Thoris and Sola. They leave Thark and flee for their lives. The martians give chase but John, after causing a distraction allowing Dejah to escape, leads them away to the mountains. There he manages to trap them in an avalanche. However, John is now lost. He wanders around until he reaches a huge building. The Atmosphere Factory. And that’s the book.

So let’s talk opinions. What other praise can I heap on this book that I already haven’t in prior reviews? This was yet another great issue. Filled with action, excitement and a breakneck pace that is refusing to slow down. The plot progression is incredible. Sola’s revelation of her father really didn’t come as much of a surprise for me. Tars is the only intelligent, rational, compassionate, martian we’ve seen so far. Dejah and John’s feelings for each other was a foregone conclusion. The story doesn’t give you time to relax, though. Right away, it’s betrayal, then a rescue mission, then a flight for safety. After a panel or two of running, there’s a chase, a battle, another fight for survival. Really tons of action. The art was great too. Dejah was drawn super-hot once again. The mountains of Mars are very nice. The warrior Martians looked very fierce and intimidating. Tal Hajus reminded me a little bit of Jabba the Hutt. All in all, an incredible book. That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.
