Punisher Max #13 Review

Tagged with: Jason Aaron  Punisher MaxPunisher Max #13

Frank reflects on his current situation. Today I will be reviewing Punisher Max #13. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think.

So let’s talk about the book. Frank Castle, the Punisher, is in prison and locked away in solitary. This gives him plenty of time to reflect on his life and why he couldn’t re-assimilate himself into a normal life when he came back from Vietnam. Meanwhile, one of the prisoners who had his brother killed by the Punisher, executes a plan to get himself sent to solitary so he can confront the Punisher and kill him.  And that’s the book.

So let’s talk opinions. So this time around we get another look into the mental state of the Punisher. I love the way Frank’s prison story and his return from Vietnam story are compared in side by side panels. I definitely sets the tone for the issue and gives the reader the clear knowledge that Frank views normal life as a prison. He is trapped in a cage of normalcy that he cannot escape. A job that any normal person would find repulsive is freedom for him. Punishing a wrongdoer instead of saving him is normal and rationally just. It really makes you understand why Frank is suck a good killer. He just thinks like one. I also enjoyed the subplot with Big Jesus. You really want to root for him but you just know the Punisher will dismantle him. I hope the fight is at least more than a few pages. I am curious to see what Mr. Fury is doing here. Hope they get to that next issue. Onto the art. Still very clean and easily understandable. I enjoyed the meat packing scenes as it allowed the artist to give us more details and backgrounds. It also allowed some colors to be added to an otherwise gray and colorless book. Still, even with that minor complaint, this book reads very well. Quick paced and never letting up, the story keeps escalating in tension. Let’s hope the payoff is worth it. So far, this MAX book has been 100% on the money perfect. That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.
