Uncanny X-Force #6 Review

Tagged with: Uncanny X-ForceUncanny X-Force #6

Fantomex must retrieve the World or the future is lost. Today I will be reviewing Uncanny X-Force #6. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think.

So let’s talk about the book. Fantomex and Deathlock fight off the Deathlock Avengers and manage to retrieve the World as X-Force arrives. Too bad its a Deathlock X-Force. Good thing the real X-Force shows up and manage to escape. While on EVA, the future and how it came to be is revealed to X-Force. The only way to stop this future, where all super-humans are killed and reanimated as Deathlocks, is to enter the World and kill the mysterious Father. And that’s the book.

So let’s talk opinions. This was a great issue. I love the revelations. Like I said in last issue’s review, I’m a sucker for future alternate stories and a Deathlock world is something that would be really cool to actually see. Especially the last stand that the heroes would have made before they fell. I like the way Psylocke is still morally in chaos over the whole Apocalypse thing. Now Remender is getting it right. She is the moral one on the team and needs to deal with what happened, not Deadpool. In fact, I actually have decided to ignore Deadpool completely on this team. When he shows up, I’ll just pretend he’s some random Stormtrooper, and when he gets shot, I won’t really care. The action this issue was pretty intense. Deathlock and Fantomex are a dangerous duo if they can take down the Avengers, even if they were not 100%. Cap’s last act was also pretty spot on for the character and well written. The art was pretty good, once again this issue. It’s still not super clean but it doesn’t harm the story at all. Wolverine looked a lot better. Also, if you noticed, when the Deathlock X-Force shows up, there is no Deathlock Fantomex on the team. Maybe he never fellin the future. Overall, the pace is picking up as is the tension and excitement. This is a perfect formula for a second book in an arc. Now the question is who is Father? My guess is that its Weapon Infinity. But is it someone we know or something new? (Maybe its Fantomex himself) I can’t wait to find out. That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.

You know, I’m all for people having their own tastes, but the Deadpool hate was rather close-minded.

Thank you for your comment Christopher. I don’t hate Deadpool. I love the character. I’ve been a Deadpool fan long before he became Marvel’s flavor of the year. I read and review every Deadpool title. Some do suck but I favor most. I HATE this interpretation from Remender. He is turning a great character into a whiny bitch who barely makes an appearance, gets captured, blown up and destroyed every time he does, and adds absolutely no value to the title. If you insert any other stealthy fighter in his place, (Gambit, for example) no one would even notice because that is how limited and pointless his input into the book has been. If you feel otherwise, you’re allowed your opinion. I feel, with all of my open minded heart, that Remender has no clue what to do with Deadpool and he was forced to use the character for additional fan recognition. There is NO Deadpool hate in me. Only Remender hate. He’s had 7 attempts to make it work and he’s failed all 7 times.

Since you put it like that, I agree with you to a degree, but I also think Deadpool has had an impact on the book that Gambit (for instance) wouldn’t have. I don’t see gambit feeding Archangel his own flesh to keep him alive. I don’t believe the book would be as good without Deadpool.

Except for that one instance, I believe Deadpool has not had any active input into the title. That’s just my opinion. Until Deadpool is utilized more and better, that’s the opinion I’m sticking with. Thank you for your response.
