So let’s talk about the book. Bruce want to try and repair his marriage, but an issue arises when he visits Amadeus Cho. Turns out Betty might be forced to stay as Red She Hulk if she keeps transforming. With Cho’s help, Banner tracks Betty to Italy. When he arrives, he sees Betty with his old enemy Tyrannus. (?) This causes him to get jealous and Hulk out which was Betty and Tyrannus’ plan all along. Tricking him, the two manage to steal an ancient artifact. Pandora’s Box. And that’s the book.
So let’s talk opinions. First of all, let’s talk art. When I first saw the cover, my heart sank. After the incredible covers and art over the last year, if this was the new direction, I was going to be severely pissed. Thank god the interiors were the usual spectacular stuff that we have been blessed with. Nice big pages and images that are clear and beautiful to look at. While there wasn’t that much action to draw, the people were drawn quite well. As for the story, it was all right. When I first saw the villain, I honestly had to Wikipedia him. I’ve been a Hulk collector off and on but I have never actually heard of Tyrannus. Turns out he’s been around since 1963. (Go figure) The story was nice. Its very admirable that Bruce is trying to repair his marriage. He has loved Betty since day one and its nice to see that he still does after all these years. He still gets jealous and he will do anything to protect her. That is an amazing character trait that the Hulk has always had. I’m glad that Marvel has never chosen to play with that trait as it it the core of the character. It was also really good to see Amadeus Cho. (My favorite new character in Marvel’s stable. He really needs his own title.) Cho adds humor and adolescence to an otherwise stiff comic. I hope he stays around for a while. Overall, a nice beginning to a new story arc. That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.
