Another Deadpool title comes to a close. Today I will be reviewing Deadpool Team-Up #883. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think.
So let’s talk about the book. Deadpool has his credit card rejected at Cost-Lo for buying too many Guinea pigs and looks for a job. Luckily, Galactus is looking for a new herald. Deadpool applies and proceeds to happily doom many a world to Galactus’ hunger. Too bad his mouth gets on Galactus’ nerves and he is told to leave. On top of that, the Silver Surfer shows up to beat Wade out of the position. And that’s the book.
So let’s talk opinions. What a perfect issue to send off this title into obscurity. It had plenty of laughs, plenty of action and tons of stupidity. The art was great and the battle with the Silver Surfer was awesome. Galactus, one of my favorite visual characters was perfectly drawn. The tone of the book was pure sarcasm. From page one to the last page, it was one joke after another. (What? Love Actually did have an amazing cast. ) I’ve been a huge fan of this title from day one as it has been my favorite Deadpool book on the stands every month. Its so rare that self contained stories are done on a monthly basis anymore. Everything is 4 part this and 6 part that. Just having one well written, well drawn self contained story is what comics were all about back when I started collecting. It made the writers actually have to work to come up with new ideas every month. I wish comics could return to that. In any case, I raise a glass to this excellent piece of work that we probably will not see again for a long time. RIP Deadpool Team-UP and Deadpool Corps. (And that piece of crap Deadpool Max which will be joining you soon.) You will be missed. (At least by me.) That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.
