Uncanny X-Force #7 Review

Tagged with: Uncanny X-ForceUncanny X-Force #7

The fate of the future is decided. Today I will be reviewing Uncanny X-Force #7. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think.

So let’s talk about the book. Entering the World, X-Force splits up into teams to try to find and kill father. Opposing them are the Deathlock X-Force and the mysterious Father himself. The battles are fierce and intense. At one point, DeathlockForce is winning but their objective is changed by Father. They are now assigned to kill the Future Insurgent. Fantomex and his secret creation Weapon XV are the only opposition. Meanwhile Deadpool finds Father but he gets mind controlled. The Deathlocks are about to win until Deadpool overcomes the control and kills father. The battle ends instantly as the Deathlocks disappear. As X-Force leaves the world, we get a glimpse of what Fantomex was protecting. An incubator with a 28 month old baby in it labeled En Sabah Nur AKA Apocalypse. And that’s the book.

So let’s talk opinions. Now this is what I’ve been craving for the last six issues. Remender hit it right on the money. Deapool is FINALLY utilized in a proper fashion. Angry, resilient and merciless when the kill option presents itself. Also able to drop a few sarcastic, though not humorous, jokes. The rest of the team was pretty cool too. Fantomex’s possible private agenda really fleshes out his character even more as a duplicitous potential backstabber. Archangel is really starting to become possessed by his former master again. Betsy is getting even more vicious.  The art was pretty good, once again this issue. It’s still not super clean but it doesn’t harm the story at all. I do love some of the backgrounds and interior layouts of the World. Very nice. The fight scenes were a little confusing since it was very difficult at times to tell the difference between the real X-Force and the Deathlock X-Force. I blame the colorist for that since it’s the colors that are making the images on the page blend together. The revelation of Father was sort of a letdown. I was expecting someone familiar. Instead we get a random no name schmuck. Also learning that the Deathlocks are weapon Infinity kind of made perfect sense. The last page reveal was cool too. Maybe Fantomex did not kill Apocalypse in the last arc. Maybe he took some of him back to the World somehow. I will be looking for the explanation on that one in a future issue, I hope. Overall, a great second story arc. Keep up the good work on Deadpool. I hope the next arc is even better. That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.

The look on Fantomex’s smug face was priceless.

Thanks for the comment Christopher. It is nice to see Fantomex’s smugness come back to haunt him. Overall, a great story arc.

Why isn’t Psylocke using telekinesis at all? She should have been able to deflect the missile or at least put up a tk shield, right? Does she not have it anymore?
