Wolverine #7 Review

Tagged with: WolverineWolverine #7

The battle for Logan’s soul gets some new combatants. Today I will be reviewing Wolverine #7. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think.

So let’s talk about the book. Magneto and Namor try to kill Demonrine but he is just too powerful. Other X-Men arrive and force him to an unpopulated island where they will try to kill him again to save humanity. Meanwhile, inside his mind, Logan makes a last stand against the demons destroying his very soul. He releases all of his other aspects and personalities to fight the demons. He is getting overwhelmed when Emma Frost and some of Wolverine’s prodigies arrive in his mind to help. However, it is still not enough. Only one last play is left and a certain deceased fuzzy elf ready to play it. And that’s the book.

So let’s talk opinions. While not as horrid as last issue, the art was still bad. The story, however was a lot better. There was plenty of action and a good use of Demonrine. Getting into Magneto’s head was a nice touch. I also like how Namor was defeated. The inner mind battle is getting annoying but it was nice to see some of my favorite versions of Wolverine. (He certainly had a lot of different costumes and personas over the years, huh?) I would love to see what Dr. Nemesis’ “Plan B” is but I don’t think we will. IT was also very touching to see Wolverine’s best friend once again, even if it was only in his mind. So next issue we finally put this story to bed, I hope. (Seeing Jean will be nice too, I think) After that, we seriously need a better artist, and more solo Wolverine stories. Enough with the whole X-Men appearances. I can read Uncanny, or X-Force, or Astonishing, or one of the many other team books Wolverine is on to see him interact with teammates. I want solo Wolverine stories. Stories that help grow the character even more. (I don’t know if that’s possible these days since he was Marvel’s focus for most of the 80s.) I just don’t want to see him fight god level characters. A good brawl with regular people in a story with a purpose. That’s all I’m asking for. Is it too much? That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.
