Uncanny X-Force #8 Review

Tagged with: Uncanny X-ForceUncanny X-Force #8

Time for some mind games. Today I will be reviewing Uncanny X-Force #8. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think.

So let’s talk about the book. Deathlock offers to stay and protect the World from ever being taken or used for evil again. Meanwhile, Psylocke sends Deadpool on a mission to investigate an army base she feels a psychic disturbance from. At the same time, she enters Archangel’s mind and traps his darkness in a prison. When Deadpool fails to report, the team heads to the base. There, Psylocke is confronted by the Shadow King. The two begin to battle on the astral plane. The Shadow King is winning and decides to press the advantage by freeing Archangel’s evil from Psylocke’s prison so the two of them can kill Psylocke. Instead, Archangel attacks and decapitates the Shadow King. Back in the real world, Archangel kills a somewhat possessed soldier in order to stop him from setting off nukes. And that’s the book.

So let’s talk opinions. Perfection on paper. That’s all I can say. This issue had it all. Great fight scenes. Great story. Amazing art. What more can we ask for? From the first page, I was happy. Billy Tan, the guest artist, really does a great job with the characters. Archangel looks amazing. Psylocke is stunning. Deadpool looks like his old bad-ass self again. The backgrounds are full of details and nuances. The facial expressions are clear and easy to understand. The astral plane fight scene was really cool. The possession eye effects were pretty awesome too. The story was pretty good, if a bit fast. Why trap Warren if he will only be freed a few pages later? Waste of time if you ask me. The action scenes, which there were plenty of, ruled. Even battling each other, X-Force still works very cohesively as a team. So now we have to question if Warren is in control of his mind or if Archangel is taking over. (We all know Apocalypse will be possessing Archangel very soon so I’m looking forward to that) I hope after the next arc ends, we can shift our focus away from Apocalypse and move on to other enemies. (Too much of one villain makes the book a bit repetitive. Still, this was my favorite issue of this title to date. That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.
