The attention finally gets focused on Frank. Today I will be reviewing Punisher Max #12. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think.
So let’s talk about the book. After his battle with Bullseye, the Punisher is in a prison infirmary with casts on most of his body and in serious pain. He is also aware that his situation is not a good one. He needs to be prepared for an attack at any time. Sure enough, two bands of cons pay off the guards and come to his cell. However, because of his reputation, they are too scared to enter it and finish him off. Meanwhile, Frank reflects on his past and how he lived during the war and when he returned from it. And that’s the book.
So let’s talk opinions. Time to shift gears and give Franky a little spotlight. This was an amazing issue that dove deep into the mental state of Frank Castle. He is basically a stone cold killer. The war wasn’t a horror for him, it was a release. He was completely assimilated into violence and anything else was removed. We still don’t know what his last words were to his wife before she died but I’m beginning to think it was I’m sorry. I can’t be with you anymore. The prison subplot was very nice too. I love the way the prisoners basically talked themselves out of killing Frank. (I guess it is better to be feared than loved) The art was amazing once again. Faces were drawn beautifully with all of their expressions easily understandable. Now if we could get a little bit of attention to the backgrounds, that would make it even better. Don’t get me wrong, I love the art, but the faces are so big that they control most of the panels and really make you focus on them alone. I like looking at the entire picture sometimes. Small attention to details, like the tattoos on the cons make the book that much more enjoyable for me. I’m looking forward to Frank healing and being put into general population. That should make for some fun conversations. That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.
