So let’s talk about the book. Hulk attacks the Warbound because he is being chemically controlled by Miek. However, he is growing stronger and will break free soon. Miek tells the Warbound that the only reason Hulk is needed is because his blood is feeding Miek’s offspring. If Hulk stops, Miek’s species will die. Hulk doesn’t care but Skaar takes the offspring from him. Meanwhile Hulk smashes Miek out of the Savage Land where he meets his doom. When Hulk returns, the Warbound and Skaar decide to stay in the Savage Land. And that’s the book.
So let’s talk opinions. What a nice conclusion and a granting of one of my long time wishes for this title. The end of the Warbound as a supporting cast. I’m glad they’re gone. (All but Skaar) Now we can focus on Hulk and mostly Hulk. (Betty too, I guess) Hulk has always been about being a monster and being alone and this issue proves that Hulk still is a monster. Revenge is still a top thought that runs in his head. Good thing Skaar has some compassion but he’s still a kid. Life and time will burn that compassion from his head. I loved when Hulk finally got to cut loose. (Smashing Miek through a mountain was F’n cool) Now he should be ready to move on to the next phase of his life. I can’t wait to see what that will be. (But from the covers to the next two issues, I’d say its a war with his Red wife) That battle needs to happen as well. The art this issue was phenomenal. Huge fight scene panels and large colorful characters. This is one of the few titles where large action packed panels are fully appropriate. I do hope that we get to see Banner again in the future. He does make the books a little bit more interesting and intelligent. Great issue. Thank the lord that the bug story is done. That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.
