Dungeons And Dragons #6 Review

Tagged with: Dungeons And Dragons  IDWDungeons And Dragons #6

The origin of Fell’s Four starts here.  Today I will be reviewing Dungeons and Dragons #6. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think.

So let’s talk about the book. While caught withing the portal between worlds, Adric remembers how he met the other party members of Fell’s Four. It all begins when Jinx, Fell’s captain, recruits Adric to go on a mission. He is to accompany a wizard and a group of guards on a mission to a lost city. Along the way, they see a dwarf caught on a rock in the middle of a river. Before they can react, a Bulette attacks the group. With it’s heavy armor and speed, the monster manages to cause serious damage. If not for the quick thinking of Fell and Khal, the dwarf, the party would be doomed. The two manage to trick the monster and escape. Afterwords, the survivors reach the lost city, which magically appears. The wizard leading the expedition lets everyone know that they have until morning to get what he needs or the entire city, and everyone in it, will disappear for another 10 years. As the party begins exploring, they are attacked by archers. Using quick wits once again, Adric manages to set a trap and capture one of the attackers, who turns out to be the Princess, causing a standoff. And that’s the book.

So let’s talk opinions. This book is one of the most action packed titles on the stands today. The pace never lets up for a second. There really is no time to breathe. No actions are wasted on reflection or introductions. From the first amazingly drawn panel, to the final action filled page, something is always going on. I love the way Adric is introduced to the wizard and how he immediately assesses the situation and shows his intelligence and tactician abilities. Those skills are very important for a fighter in the real D&D game and the writer captures them perfectly. Adric manages to save everyone twice already using quick with and tactics. Khal really didn’t get too much exposure this issue but I’m sure we’ll see him in action next issue. We also got a glimpse of Varis, who I’m sure will find a way to join the team next issue as well. (I missed Bree this issue. She’s my favorite character) The writer also does a pretty good job capturing the arrogance of wizardry in the way he portrays him as a know it all, holier than thou, self serving, jackass. (Most wizards in the game do act that way. At high levels, the actually earn that right) The art this issue was awesome as well. Nice big scenery shots from water to earth to sky scenes were beautifully laid out in great detail. The Bulette looked pretty fierce too. The only issues I had was that there was too much pink in the old city for my tastes. Other than that, the book was great. Plus, we now get Jinx’s character sheet to add to our collection. I hope next issue is just as good. That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.
