New Mutants #23 Review

Tagged with: Age of X  New MutantsNew Mutants #23

The mystery behind Age of X continues to grow. Today I will be reviewing New Mutants #23. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think.

So let’s talk about the book. So it turns out Magneto did not kill Legacy, AKA Rogue, and Gambit. Instead, he hid them and sends them on a mission to reach the center of Fortress X to a room he doesn’t remember creating. While this occurs, Magneto frees Kitty Pryde and revives Professor X. The New Mutants show up but Magneto is about to convince them to join him when he is knocked unconscious by the Force Warriors. Meanwhile, Gambit and Legacy reach the center room and find a box with the entire universe inside of it. And that’s the book.

So let’s talk opinions. This is getting really good now. I’m beginning to get some sort of idea as to what is going on. It’s possible that Jean Grey or more probably Professor X’s mind-sister Cassandra Nova is the main villain. (Though how she can put a universe in a box is beyond me) Maybe she invaded Legion’s mind and made him create this universe. He gets to have his mother back while she gets to be the puppet master. She is scared of Xavier so it is possible. Also, Revenant, AKA Jean Grey, the Phoenix, is shown as out of place here. Someone might be controlling her as well. Blindfold might still hold the key to everything. The issue itself was a non-stop spy movie. Magneto creating the distraction while Legacy and Gambit break in. I’m guessing the frozen man is Dr. Nemesis but I’m not sure on that either. So many questions. I love that a book is making me get so involved in solving it’s mysteries. The art is great, once again. Magneto using his powers looks awesome. Magneto in general, in this white outfit looks almost holy. It really is a huge difference from his regular red outfit. Color really does make a big difference in how you interpret a character. This was not an action heavy book but the intricate story more than makes up for it. With only two issue to go, this story will reach it’s pinnacle very soon and hopefully all will make sense by then. I wish it there was more. This has been a great story so far. That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.
