Deadpool Family #1A very sad epilogue to what was a well done book. Today I will be reviewing The Deadpool Family #1. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think.
So let’s talk about the book. The Deadpool Corps have been disbanded. This doesn’t stop Marvel from giving us four tales of the Corps. First up is Kidpool and Dogpool having a game of mine is bigger and better than yours. Second is Lady Deadpool and Headpool going to a couples therapist. Then we have a really strange Dogpool vs the Sentry’s Dog. (WTF?) Finally, a solo Deadpool story told in a pulp style. And that’s the book.
So let’s talk opinions. I wish this issue was never done. It took my fond and happy memories of the Deadpool Corps and threw them into the toilet. I liked the Deadpool solo story. The art on it was weird but it sort of fit the mood of the tale. It really reminded me of the old school pulp stories (like the Shadow) from back in the days. The Kidpool story was completely moronic. There was no point at all to it other than having a laugh at Dogpool. When a dog biting himself is the beast part of a story, you know the story has issues. The Lady Deadpool tale was not only pointless but completely gross and disgusting to look at. Why exactly is Lady Deadpool scarred again? Wasn’t that removed in the Deadpool Corps books? Someone needs to keep up on continuity. (Unless this story is before that happened) At least the Dogpool solo story was funny. Parody and comic hi-jinks aplenty. Plus, it was drawn like a Disney cartoon so it looked pretty cool. I wish that Marvel could have just done a send-off special that showed how the team spent their last moments before they disbanded. A full story instead of 4 short pointless tales. That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.

DavidPosted on April 8, 2011 at 2:17 amBesides the weird stories, I think all of the artwork in the book was some of the best I’ve seen for the Deadpool Corps gang. Obviously you didn’t like the stories so much, but what did you think about the artwork?

Victor KutsenokPosted on April 8, 2011 at 6:25 amThank you for your comment David. Of the four, I actually enjoyed the solo Deadpool art. Very pulpish. I also liked the Dogpool art. Very Disneyish. The other two just didn’t do it for me.
