The new team goes on their first mission while a back-up team is being recruited. Today I will be reviewing Thunderbolts #156. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think.
So let’s talk about the book. Luke Cage takes the team to Germany to fight a magical enemy. Satana is brought along. As they near their location, they are attacked by spirits and apparitions. Satana is watching as the team gets overwhelmed. Meanwhile, back at The Raft, a B-Team is being created just in case the A-Team ever goes down. The recruitment process is running smoothly until Songbird decides to allow one of the candidates to turn into his alter ego. Time for Mr. Hyde to come out and play. And that’s the book.
So let’s talk opinions. Another great issue. I really enjoyed the new team out on their first mission. Satana is definitely a good fit into this team. She adds sexuality and unpredictability. I love the way she immediately got into everyone’s head and made them self-conscious. Putting the characters on edge always adds excitement to a title. I’m not happy that a B-Team is being built. If this book becomes something like Alpha Flight, I’m going to be upset. (Plus, I can’t afford to pay for a spin-off book.) While the action was limited, the interactions between everyone was well written. There wasn’t much humor, though. The art was pretty good as well. I love the Man-Thing/Satana splash. Very nice work. I’m assuming that the reason Mr. Hyde is here is because once Juggernaut becomes one of the Worthy, (Fear Itself) the team will be heavily underpowered. Hyde represents the perfect powerful, yet completely unstable character that this title is famous for. Can’t wait to see what’s next. That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.
